We’re very happy to share that BECOMING, the debut feature by Kazakh director Zhannat Alshanova, had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in the Cineasti del Presente competition! A poetic and quietly powerful film, Variety describes it as “an evocative portrait of a young woman caught between duty and desire, moving through moments of silence and hesitation with a delicate rhythm.”
The Lithuanian delegation was there in full spirit — producer Marija Razgutė, associate producer Brigita Beniušytė, and first assistant director Simonas Šaineris — proudly representing our contribution to this beautiful story. A co-production between France, Kazakhstan, The Netherlands, Lithuania and Sweden, the film is already sparking international conversations, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of this journey!
